Autex Acoustics® SpinFix™ is an innovative solution to product lifecycle

Autex Acoustics SpinFix pioneers end-of-life solutions for acoustic products, minimising their environmental footprint

 

 

Dedicated to continuous innovation and investigation of new materials and processes, Autex Acoustics have leveraged their pioneering first-class pelletising process to develop SpinFix, a RePET mounting clip for acoustic panels. This innovative method transforms ‘waste’ PET from manufacturing offcuts into RePET, which is utilised in creating product accessories like SpinFix. SpinFix eliminates the need for adhesives during installation by repurposing offcuts into RePET, which is used to create products like SpinFix.

 

Product development lead, Sam Wells, is excited about the advances made through the development of SpinFix, along with the achievements in circularity. “Improving the end-of-life journey for our materials was top of mind when designing SpinFix, providing us with another avenue to explore applications of our RePET processes and giving acoustic panels yet another life. Our friction welding technology binds the 100% PET clips to the panels without the use of glue. This means everything remains 100% polyester and can be recycled again at the end of life. Without compromising the performance or usability of the original product, we’ve ended up with an extremely versatile technology, which we will to explore and develop even further in future.”

 

Autex Acoustics consider the entire lifecycle of products, including their end-of-life, by focusing on materials with less impact and looking for ways to design and manufacture sustainably. SpinFix is specifically designed with disassembly in mind, making it easy to repurpose panels or reclaim and recycle them through the Takeback Programme, due to the elimination of contamination associated with installation. SpinFix represents another initiative of Autex Acoustics in leading the way to a sustainable future through mindful material choices and designing with the product’s entire lifecycle in mind.
